Well, what can we say about our ride out on Sunday. So, we had already determined the route as my good wife had requested that she wanted something from the Witchy shop in Boscastle. Now I could not deny her a simple request of me could I, so there was only one way to go now wasn’t there. Obviously (at least in my little mind) the Long Way Round, a good old fashioned round robin and to avoid the A30.
Those that were going arrived at the nest in good time so we had a brew and took the piss, I mean had some meaningful conversation until we realised that we were one short. So on the phone we got on the lines of where the f*** are you! Long and short, Captain Slow arrived and that’s when the piss taking started. When we got bored of that we set off on our little adventure.
We set off towards our first destination, the Louis tea rooms at Kitt Hill. Off towards the A38 roundabout Bodmin/Plymouth, fortunately the only little bit of the A30 we had to suffer. The traffic was the usual 50mph road with the chosen few Sunday drivers out for a picnic going the obligatory 30- 40 then back to 30mph and so on which was perfect for Captain slow until we hit the Dobwalls bypass and time to stretch our legs up to the Callington junction.
It was around midday when we arrived at Louis’s tea rooms and there were quite a few fellow motorcyclists and a wide variety of machines to have a good looking over for a while as we waited for our breakfast/brunch to turn up which was a varying mix. Of course the standard fry up and a brew, pasty and beer with a side of cheesecake and ice cream.
After we had, had our fill of food, beverages and nicotine, it was getting rather warm, so of comes another layer. We set off across the moors towards Davidstow way, then crossed the Atlantic highway towards Boscastle which was a very pleasant ride. I also had the amusement of seeing Captain slow doing 2-point turns getting round the bends at the bottom of the hill as you arrive into Boscastle.
We all parked up in the carpark and Termi’s bar was opened, fortunately we were right opposite the toilets. So off I trundled of to get my wife her stuff. You all no how the story goes Happy wife happy life. Mission Complete…
We unfortunately had to make our ways home so we set off to Camelford to get some fuel for those that weren’t on one of those touring machines as we had covered some miles. So, we said our goodbyes and set off down the Atlantic highway until we disappeared off in our own separate ways.
Well, what a lovely ride out with my brothers, very enjoyable and not to mention we made some Bleddy Noise.
Hopefully we will see some of you at our open ride to Dartmoor next weekend. Let’s hope the sun gods are going to grace us some mercy.
